Millions of Thanks for Your Kindness! It was more than moving to receive one of the most gorgeous, beautiful, and elegant flower pot of Ko-Cho-Ran (胡蝶蘭; Phalaenopsis; moth orchid) sent by the Kumagai Seminar class of 2006. I am thankful for their remembering my retirement from Kyorin University. I will, however, continue to teach at Kyorin U as a Visiting Professor of Sociology for a while. Then, I will come to campus two days a week, on Wednesdays and Thursdays when classes are in session.

It was delightful to see three of the Kumagai Seminar members completed the Kyorin Gaigo program successfully, and graduated from Kyorin University. They are, Zhou JinYun, Ayano Kushibushi, and Mami Tanoguchi. I am very proud of having them in the seminar, spent two years with these students, and cherish happy memories of various activities. They worked extremely hard for every bit of seminar activities, and as a consequence, have matured indeed mentally and psychologically as well. It was very kind of Shuichi Moribayashi, the fist graduate of the Kumagai Seminar, and the President of the Kyorin Gaigo Alumni Association, came over for the commencement, and jointed the photo with us. The third Senior Students Theses Presentation Forum was held on Monday, February 2, 2009. In the Forum three of the students who enrolled in the Kumagai Seminar made impressive performance indeed!
Titles of their theses are as follows:
Ayano Kushibuchi: Auto Industry in the U.S.A. and Japan
Mami Tanoguchi: Fast-Food Industry in the U.S.A. and Japan
Zhou Jinyun: IT Industry in the U.S.A. and Japan
Recollecting the past two years with these two students I am quite moved by the progress each of them has made mentally and psychologically as well. Theses presented here are far from the perfect form in terms of the quality of their English and the way of presentations. I know, however, how important the learning process is. They even mastered a difficult GPS computer mapping program of MANDARA. Therefore, I am most willing to acknowledge efforts that these students have made toward the completion of their work.
In addition, I am certain that all of them will remember forever the friendship they generated along the way. I am confident that these experiences they shared will be valuable and significant for their future life.

It is so good to see all the three students of the Kumagai Seminar at the potluck dinner party on Sunday, January 25, 2009. Although F. Kumagai will serve as a Visiting Professor she is going to retire as a full-time professor. And, therefore, this is the final year for the Kumagai Seminar. The group is consisted of three graduating seniors only. All of the three students have taken challenge to the past two years. I am extremely pleased that all of them have made significant progress, and have gotten matured along with various kinds of seminar activities.
The party was as good as ever before. Besides having delicious foods, we enjoyed talking, taking a walk to the Enoshima Shrine, and strolling along the seashore. In the evening we even prepared for the Theses Presentation Forum to be held a week from Monday, the 2nd of February. It was as late as past 9:00 o'clock in the evening when we adjourned the meeting.
It is good to see all the Kumagai Seminar students were relaxed on the occasion. Let us remember our friendship generated throughout the various seminar activities. Furthermore, let us confront with any difficulties that might stand against us in the coming years. For the time being, please enjoy the photographs taken at the occasion.

I am very proud of Aya Murakami who was the valedictorian of all the graduating seniors, and Shimpei Masuda who headed the Graduation Album Committee and made a significant contribution to the Kumagai Seminar.

made splendid presentations. It is good to see junior students of the Kumagai Seminar also participated in the Forum to observe the presentations so that they can emulate presentations in their

Upon the request of several faculty members for the video taking of our Senior Theses Presentation we gathered together again on February 7, 2007. It was a total surprise to receive a pot of the most beautiful and elegant cymbidium "Princess Masako" sent by the eight students enrolled in the Kumagai Seminar over the past two years, and will graduate from Kyorin University this March. I am more than thankful, and will remember the warmest hearts of them all.
After a brief computer session for the newly entering seminar member at the computer room, we had an enjoyable the end of the year informal get-together at Garden Oka. The potluck dinner party of this year was as good as ever. Beside having delicious foods, we enjoyed talking, walking on the seashore, the most magnificent sunset, music, etc. until as late as almost 11:00p.m. It is good to see all the Kumagai Seminar students were relaxed at that time. We assured ourselves that we will study hard, and will do our best for the coming new academic year, and during the spring recess, as well.
